For most of the SEC, the college football season does not start until next Saturday. A few other conferences, however, are in action this Saturday.

One of the games on currently on TV is North Carolina A&T and Jacksonville State. Viewers watching that game may have noticed that ESPN has given its on-screen score box a refresh for the 2018 season.

It appears the box will be used to display other relevant information as well. One photo below shows the box being used to display the name of the punter and the punt returner accompanied by the team color background and logo (a la the score). In both cases, the box is in the bottom corner sitting on top of the ticker.

What do you think? Is it an upgrade or is the World Wide Leader fixing something that wasn’t broken?
