LOOK: Jonathan India posts heartfelt goodbye message to Gator Nation after 3 amazing years

The Cincinnati Reds selected Florida 3B Jonathan India with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, meaning the Gators star has a hefty payday coming his way.

As much as India may want to return to Florida for his senior season, top-5 money is too much to pass up, so he’ll turn pro this summer.

As you can see below, India wrote a heartfelt goodbye message to Gator Nation, posting it on his Instagram page:

Where do I even start… these past three years were a dream come true for me. Ever since I was a little kid, my parents would dress me in gator gear hoping that one day I would become a gator. To say that I was a student-athlete at the University of Florida for three years is remarkable and it’s something I will cherish for the rest of my life. The memories I have made with my teammates and friends are memories that I will hold forever. Being able to say I was apart of the first gator baseball team to ever win a national championship for the program is one for the record books! This University has shaped me into the person I am today and I can’t thank them enough. To all of Gator nation, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting us from start to finish every year because we couldn’t of done it without you guys. It’s not the way we wanted it to finish this year but it was another amazing year for us. It’s gonna take some time to getting used to not putting on the gator uniform but I wore that uniform with a lot of heart and pride and loved every moment of it. With that said, I’m excited to move on to begin a new chapter of my life with the Cincinnati Reds. Go Gators, always and forever!🐊 God bless

India helped lead the Gators to a national title last season, their first in program history. He also was a big part of the team that went to the College World Series this year.

Now, he’ll try to quickly make his way through the minors, where he hopes to make a big contribution to the Reds in the near future.
