When the NCAA handed down sanctions to Ole Miss, banning them for one more year of postseason play, it opened the doors for many players to transfer.

One of those players is star QB Shea Patterson, who announced shortly thereafter that he would leave Ole Miss, eventually settling on Michigan.

On Tuesday, the Wolverines made an official announcement, welcoming Patterson to the Michigan family:

It’s not clear if Patterson will be eligible to play immediately, but his attorney said recently that he wouldn’t sue the NCAA for eligibility.

However, whether he plays in 2018 or if he has to wait until 2019, Michigan fans and coach Jim Harbaugh will be incredibly excited to have him in Ann Arbor.

Meanwhile, the Rebels won’t miss him as much as they could, as QB Jordan Ta’amu took over for the injured Patterson midway through the 2017 season and looked excellent.
