Kendall Blanton started his NFL career as an undrafted free agent and did not see much time during his first 3 seasons in the league. But during the Playoffs with the Los Angeles Rams, Blanton has had some key moments leading up to the Super Bowl.

During the regular season, Blanton had just 4 catches but he scored a touchdown with 2 catches in a playoff win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Then, starting TE Tyler Higbee was injured during the NFC Championship Game, opening up a door for Blanton.

Blanton responded with 5 catches on 5 targets for 57 yards vs. the San Francisco 49ers. He will also get looked to once again in the Super Bowl with Higbee officially ruled out for Sunday’s game.

During the media lead-up to the Super Bowl, Blanton was asked about his faith. Here’s what he had to say via Sports Spectrum:

“I know God has brought me a long way, and none of this would be possible without him,” said Blanton. “Just the way things have been going, the way things have played out my entire life, you couldn’t have written this any better.

“My hashtag, my motto is ‘Look at God.’ I never want to get big-headed. No matter how many plays I make, I don’t really want people to look at me. I just know I wouldn’t be here without God…that’s why I say I’m thankful to go undrafted, I’m thankful to sit behind people and learn.”

The former Mizzou star has also caught the eye of Rams QB Matt Stafford for his play:

“KB’s done an awesome job when he’s stepped in and made some plays,” said Stafford, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “Obviously Higs is a big part of our offense. He’s done an unbelievable job all season helping us get to this point both blocking and running and catching and doing all of the thing that we ask him to do. But I’ve got total confidence in KB to come in there and do his thing.”
