Loss to Alabama puts Ole Miss in dubious company

Although No. 19 Ole Miss mounted a furious comeback, it ultimately wasn’t enough as the Rebels fell to No. 1 Alabama at home by a score of 48-43.

Hugh Freeze’s team (1-2) has to be kicking itself. It jumped out to a 24-3 lead — before Alabama scored 24-unanswered point en route to the win.

The loss illuminated a dubious stat that Ole Miss certainly wants no part of:

This is the second game this season in which the Rebels have blown a 21-point lead. As a result, they’ve become the first Power 5 team in the last 10 years to achieve such a feat.

With at least nine games left on its schedule, Ole Miss certainly hopes this trend does not continue.
