LSU will meet Florida State in primetime to open the season on Sept. 3, as the Tigers announced on Tuesday that the game would kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC from Orlando.
The Seminoles won last year’s meeting in New Orleans, 24-23. They previously hadn’t met since 1991, and Florida State holds a 8-2 all-time lead in the series, which began in 1968. LSU’s last win in the series came in 1982 in a game coached by Jerry Stovall and Bobby Bowden.
Both teams are expected to be ranked in the top 10 and have plenty of momentum entering the season.
LSU is coming off a 10-4 mark and the SEC West title in its first season under coach Brian Kelly. The Tigers ended the season with a 63-7 win over Purdue in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Florida State won its final six games to finish 10-3 in 2022, culminating with a victory over Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl.
