LSU baseball head coach Jay Johnson announced Tuesday that the Tigers will start lefty Nate Ackenhausen in their elimination game against Tennessee. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
Ackenhausen will be making his first start of the season Tuesday, as he is usually a bullpen arm for the Tigers. He holds a 2-0 record with a 3.63 ERA in 15 total appearances (22.1 innings) for LSU this season.
The junior lefty will face off against Tennessee’s Drew Beam, who starred as the Vols’ Sunday starter this season.

The Tigers, of course, already beat Tennessee earlier this week to send the Vols to the loser’s bracket of the CWS. LSU now finds itself once again facing off against the Vols, who dominated the 2nd half of Monday’s elimination game against Stanford in a 6-4 victory.
LSU was able to lean on a downright unbelievable performance from Paul Skenes last time around. Let’s see how the Tigers fare with a dangerous top of the order against the Vols’ stout Sunday starter.
The winner of LSU-Tennessee faces off against No. 1 Wake Forest on Wednesday, needing 2 wins to advance to the championship series against either Florida or TCU.
