After a big recruiting weekend in Baton Rouge, Lane Kiffin and LSU have landed one of the big fish of the 2027 recruiting cycle.

KJ Green, one of the nation’s top edge rushers, committed to the Tigers on Sunday. Green, from Stone Mountain, Ga. โ€” just outside of Atlanta โ€” had Georgia in his top four, along with LSU, Oregon, and South Carolina. But LSU won out in the end.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Green is rated No. 10 nationally among other edge rushers in his class. In terms of all 2027 recruits, he ranks No. 74 in the country and No. 6 in the state of Georgia. Currently, he has 31 offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Miami, Ohio State, and other top programs.

Green is LSU’s highest-rated committed recruit of the class so far. The Tigers don’t have a sizable number of commits as it is, with Green just the fifth 2027 pledge. That’s not to say it’s not a good class. LSU has locked up in-state tight end Ahmad Hudson, the nation’s top player at his position, along with Top 10 Shreveport quarterback Peyton Houston.

Green’s commitment comes just days after four-star Irmo (S.C.) edge Jaiden Bryant flipped from LSU to Miami. Bryant had been pledged to LSU since January.
