LSU beats out Oregon, Miami for 5-star 2025 DB out of Florida

LSU landed a major commitment for its 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday.
DJ Pickett, a sought-after defensive back out of Florida, announced that he has verbally pledged to play for Brian Kelly’s program.

Out of Zephyrhills (Florida) High School, Pickett is listed as measuring 6-4, 178 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Pickett is rated 5-stars, the No. 1 player in the state of Florida, No. 2 cornerback and No. 6 prospect overall in the Class of 2025.

Recruiting experts aren’t the only ones high on Pickett. He picked up scholarship offers from 41 programs, including heavy hitters Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.
For his commitment, Pickett narrowed it down to LSU, Oregon and Miami, all schools he visited in May and June. He announced his decision in a live-streamed ceremony.
Speaking to On3’s Josh Newberg, Pickett said the opportunity to play for Corey Raymond was a deciding factor.

As Wilson Alexander of The Advocate noted, Pickett is the highest-rated cornerback commitment for LSU since Derek Stingley, another Raymond recruit.
With Pickett now on board, LSU has 17 verbal commitments in its 2025 recruiting class, which ranks No. 4 nationally on the Composite. Tiger fans can get a preview of what Pickett brings to the bayou by checking out highlights from his junior season in the Hudl video below:
