LSU head coach Brian Kelly has been named the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week following the Tigers’ 45-20 home win over the visiting Ole Miss Rebels earlier this week.
The honor is awarded weekly to a football coach who led his team to a significant victory during the previous week, while also displaying the award’s three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity.
“This was a signature win for Coach Kelly and LSU football in his first season with the Tigers,” chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation, Jim Terry said in a release. “Coach Dodd would tell you a win like this is a culmination of months of preparation, and a commitment to excellence on both sides of the ball.”
The Tigers currently hold a 6-2 overall record, now 4-1 in conference play with the victory. The No. 18 Tigers will face Alabama up next on the schedule in Tiger Stadium.
