LSU defensive back Dashawn Spears was named the 5th fastest college football player in Week 3, according to Reel Analytics.

Spears intercepted Florida quarterback DJ Lagway and took it 58 yards to the end zone in the third quarter of their game on Saturday. This was the only score in the second half and helped seal an LSU 20-10 victory over the Florida Gators. During Spears’ interception return, he hit a top speed of 21.3 mph, which was fast enough to be the 5th fastest player of the week.

It took Spears only 4.5 seconds to hit this top speed of 21.3 mph.

This was Spears’ 2nd interception of the game and the 3rd one thrown by Lagway. The Florida QB finished the game with 5 total interceptions.

The Tigers’ defense has been stellar so far this year. They allow 9 points per game to their opponents, which ranks 9th in CFB. Opponents also haven’t been able to run the ball against the Tigers, who rank 8th in opponents’ rush yards per game, allowing only 56 yards.

It has been nearly impossible for opponents to get their offense going against this Tiger defense. Expect to see this trend continue as LSU takes on Southeastern Louisiana this week. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET on Saturday.
