LSU may have earned an upset win over Miami to begin the season, but it didn’t come without a cost.
On Tuesday, Tigers coach Ed Orgeron announced that outside linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Chaisson, a sophomore, left during the fourth quarter of the Tigers’ win over the Hurricanes on Sunday night.
“I feel bad for him. He’s a great young man,” Orgeron told the media, including The Advocate’s Scott Rabalais. “He’s going to get through this and will have a great career down the road.”
Prior to his injury, Chaisson had five tackles and a sack against Miami. In 2017, he made the SEC All-Freshman Team after collecting 27 tackles and a pair of sacks.
This will certainly be a huge loss for LSU’s defense moving forward.
Orgeron listed sophomores Ray Thornton and Andre Anthony, junior Travez Moore and freshman Jarell Cherry as linebackers who could help fill the void left by Chaisson’s injury.
The Tigers play their first game without Chaisson when they host Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET at Tiger Stadium.
