Lane Kiffin and LSU‘s activity in the transfer portal has created headlines both good and bad as of late, but the Bayou Bengals have also made sure to keep their 2026 high school recruiting class in mind.
With the portal having closed Friday, Kiffin & Co. brought an in-state high school prospect to town for an official visit over the weekend, and a commitment followed soon after.
As rated on the 247Sports Composite, 3-star defensive back Jackson Williams announced his pledge to LSU on Sunday. The Marrero, Louisiana native explained, “The culture of LSU and its fan base as a whole fits me!,” per reporting from Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman.
Williams’ recruiting saga has already taken a handful of turns, as the 6-foot-2 safety had been previously committed to Tulane following an official visit over the summer. But after he made a trip to Washington State, Williams flipped his commitment to join the Cougars in December.
And now just weeks later, Lane Kiffin and his staff made a late push to keep the Archbishop Shaw product within the state’s borders, and Williams will now look to become one of program’s next great defensive backs.
On the Composite, LSU’s 2026 class currently ranks 12th in the nation, with Williams becoming the 16th member of it.
