LSU will lose some depth and experience on its offensive line.

Marlon Martinez, a senior backup with 1 year of eligibility remaining, shared on social media on Friday that he’s entering the transfer portal.

“I’d like to give a huge thank you to all of the coaches and staff at LSU for all of the opportunities given to me throughout my years here,” Martinez wrote. “I also appreciate all of the fans and the support they have shown me.”

Against Missouri, Martinez came in for injured center Charles Turner, but was taken out in favor of freshman DJ Chester after multiple botched snaps.

In the spring, he took the majority of the reps at center with the starters since returning starter Charles Turner was out, but Martinez saw his playing time slip throughout the season.

Over the last 4 years, Martinez played in 45 games, mostly on special teams. He made 4 starts, including 3 at right guard in 2021. Coming out of high school, Martinez was a 3-star recruit from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and ranked the nation’s No. 20 offensive guard by 247Sports.
