Last year, when new LSU OC Matt Canada was calling plays at Pitt, he drew up two passes to OL Brian O’Neill, who scored both times.

This year, LSU senior OL K.J. Malone is hoping Canada has a few more play calls for offensive linemen.

Malone, the son of NBA legend Karl Malone, told NOLA.com he wants to follow in O’Neill’s footsteps and find the end zone a time or two to close out his career in Baton Rouge:

“It’s every lineman’s dream to catch a pass,” said Malone. “During a game, if they call that play my heart is going to be beating. If I drop this ball, they’re never going to call that play again. If I catch the ball, everybody is going to be like ‘oh my god.’ I’ll be a hero.”

If he wants to score a touchdown this year, he should probably stop talking about it. Based on Canada’s track record, opposing teams will be watching LSU’s linemen much more closely this year.

Still, with Malone’s athleticism, getting the ball in his hands somehow may not be the worst idea for the LSU offense.
