LSU overcomes 8-run deficit, walks off South Carolina to advance to SEC Tournament final
LSU walked-off South Carolina 12-11 in 10 innings on Saturday afternoon in a marathon game that took more than 4.5 hours to complete.
The Gamecocks jumped out to an 8-0 lead early on, but LSU was quick to respond with a 6-run 4th inning to get back in the game. LSU was able to hang around in this game despite never holding the lead until Steven Milam’s 10th-inning blast cleared the fence in left-center field.
Here’s a replay of Milam’s game-winner:

That home run came at the end of a bizarre sequence in the top of the 10th inning. South Carolina was awarded a run after LSU catcher Brady Neal was called for interference as he attempted to tag out a runner trying to steal home.
Instead of an inning-ending base-running mistake, South Carolina was awarded the go-ahead run to make it 11-10. After a lengthy stoppage in-which LSU argued the call (which was not reviewable), the Tigers got out of the inning without further damage done.
LSU, as it did all day long, responded quickly with a leadoff walk in the 10th followed by Milam’s first-career walk-off hit.
LSU’s unlikely run in Hoover will now continue on Sunday as the Tigers will face either Vanderbilt or top-seeded Tennessee in the SEC tournament title game. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
LSU last won the SEC Baseball Tournament in 2017.
