LSU pays tribute to Billy Cannon with billboards around Baton Rouge

LSU lost a living legend over the weekend as Billy Cannon, the program’s only Heisman Trophy winner in the school’s storied history, passed away at the age of 80.

Following that unfortunate news, Tiger Stadium’s jumbotron played a video of Cannon’s iconic punt return against Ole Miss on Halloween night in 1959 on a loop for 24 hours. Now the school has found another way to immortalize arguably the best player in school history.

The school announced via social media that billboards similar to these renderings would be going up around Baton Rouge to honor Cannon.
