LSU picked up its 16th commitment for the 2025 recruiting class Saturday afternoon, adding another key player out of Louisiana in the process.

The player is Jhase Thomas, a 6-foot-1 and 183-pound safety out of Destrehan High School. He entered Saturday with a final group of LSU and Ole Miss out of the SEC to go with Texas Tech, Houston and Colorado.

In the end, he opted to stay home and suit up for the Tigers, joining another elite recruiting class in the process.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Thomas is a 3-star safety and a top 50 player at his position for the class of 2025. He’s also the No. 20 player out of Louisiana, giving the Tigers 8 of the top 20 in-state prospects committed for the cycle so far.

Impact for LSU

LSU is heading toward another top-10 recruiting class and an elite collection of players, headlined by No. 1 overall prospect Bryce Underwood. The Tigers hold a pair of 5-star commitments and Thomas’ pledge brings LSU up to 16 overall players.

The Tigers’ recruiting class is currently ranked No. 6 in the country and 3rd in the SEC, trailing only Alabama and Georgia.

In the meantime, LSU heads into the 2024 season with the 5th-best odds to win the SEC Championship at +1000 per ESPN Bet. Fans can use SDS’s Louisiana betting apps to track the latest odds and get in on the action.
