The LSU coaching staff is doing everything in its power to prep quarterback Joe Burrow for his first true road test.
Tigers coach Ed Orgeron said during his Monday press conference that the team will “have noise pumped in” at practice to get Burrow acclimated to the harsh environment he’ll surely experience at Auburn on Saturday.
Going into more detail, the LSU coach noted he sticks to the defensive side of the ball and leaves the offensive preparation to his trusted coaches on the other side of the ball.
“Steve (Ensminger) will work with (preparing Burrow). I don’t work with Joe at all,” Orgeron said on Monday.
Burrow has already shown he can take care of the football and make good decisions in a neutral site victory against Miami and a home win against Southeastern Louisiana. But ball security will be at an even greater premium for the junior against a stout Auburn defense at Jordan-Hare Stadium, one of the most intimidating venues in the country.
Last season, Auburn beat both Georgia and Alabama on The Plains. Both Auburn opponents were ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time of those games.
No. 11 LSU (2-0) faces No. 7 Auburn (2-0) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on CBS.
