As tends to be the case, the Super Bowl will have a heavy SEC presence within it this year.

As the league’s website made note of, 31 former SEC players will be on the active rosters for the Patriots and Seahawks. An additional 13 are on practice squads or the injured reserve, and 14 total schools are represented.

Alabama leads the SEC with 7 former players featured, while LSU and Ole Miss are tied in second with 6 apiece.

Ahead of the game, the LSU Athletic Department posted a video that featured its football players choosing which team would come out on top. Athletes were asked to place a blue pebble in the jar of whichever side they selected, and things quickly got out of hand when some dumped entire handfuls or even just tipped over the jar to give one side more representation.

Others based their choice off of how many former Tigers were on each team. New England features 5 former LSU players: wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson, offensive lineman Will Campbell, linebacker Bradyn Swinson and defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy. Meanwhile, Seattle only has one in guard Anthony Bradford.

It’s also worth noting that a SEC program has produced the Super Bowl MVP five times since 2006.
