LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier is very much in the mix to win the Tigers’ starting job, along with Jayden Daniels and Myles Brennan.
But, during a scrimmage on Thursday morning, Nussmeier wasn’t able to participate, doing some limited-movement drills on the sidelines.
Per LSU insider Brody Miller, Nussmeier suffered a minor ankle injury during practice this week, but isn’t expected to miss much time:
As reported earlier, Garrett Nussmeier was in pads and did some drills that required no movement but was primarily limited. Should be back soon. #LSU https://t.co/XliX271US1

Nussmeier appeared in 4 games last season, preserving his redshirt. He completed 29 of his 57 pass attempts for 329 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Can he work his way back into the QB1 battle when he recovers from the ankle injury? Or, will Daniels or Brennan be named the Tigers’ starter for a Week 1 matchup in New Orleans against Florida State on Sunday, Sept. 4?
