After a record-setting performance against Texas A&M, LSU RB Derrius Guice has been named the Walter Camp Player of the Week.
Guice logged 37 carries against the Aggies, rushing for a school-record 285 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 54-39 win in College Station. The sophomore running back is the eighth LSU weekly honoree in the award’s history. Leonard Fournette was the last Tiger recognized as the foundation’s player of the week on Sept. 20, 2015. Fournette briefly held the team’s rushing record for a 284-yard performance against Ole Miss on Oct. 22.
Per the foundation’s website, this is the 13th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members.
