Just how bad was LSU WR Travin Dural’s hamstring injury that he suffered against Ole Miss last season?

After practice on Friday, the recently-recovered player gave NOLA.com a graphic account of what happened:

“When I jumped for the ball against Ole Miss, I kind of sat on the DB’s shoulder and he flipped me,” Dural said. “When I hit the ground, my leg snapped back. My knee touched my shoulder. It tore my hamstring off the bone at the top. It was kind of three, four inches off from where it was supposed to be.”

The injury, which doctors told him usually happens only to skiers and hurdlers, forced Dural to miss the rest of the season (obviously) and also spring and summer practices.

But now the senior wide receiver is back at practice and ready for action. He said he feels great after a long rehab process:

“I lost a lot of weight from the spring to now,” Dural said. “I probably lost 20-25 pounds. I feel great. I feel light. I feel like I was never injured. My hamstring doesn’t bother me at all. I’ve just been letting my body rest.”

Working Dural back into a receiving corps that already includes D.J. Chark and Malachi Dupre will almost certainly help QB Brandon Harris and the LSU passing game take some of the focus off Heisman-seeking RB Leonard Fournette.
