LSU scored its first touchdown of the 2024 season against USC, with 7 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter.

USC struck first after an incredible one-handed catch by Kyron Hudson, capping its drive with a 2-yard touchdown run by Woody Marks.

But the Tigers answered back immediately. Garrett Nussmeier led a 9-play, 75-yard drive, ending with a 19-yard touchdown catch by Kyren Lacy as they knotted the score at 7.

Here’s video of the scoring play:

Nussmeier has the reins of the offense as the Tigers’ starting QB after Jayden Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, was taken in the 1st round by the Washington Commanders. He’s been terrific: 16-of-19 for 148 yards. Lacy, who had 7 touchdown catches in 2023, has 5 catches for 60 yards.

So far, it’s been a defensive battle with neither team finding the scoreboard in the first quarter. But both teams have found the end zone in a big Week 1 battle in Las Vegas.
