LSU is a bit shorthanded on defense in the 1st quarter of Saturday’s rivalry clash with Florida.

Before kickoff in The Swamp, the ABC broadcast revealed that defensive end Bradyn Swinson and defensive back Sage Ryan are not in the Tigers’ starting lineup.

A veteran transfer from Oregon, Swinson is in his second season at LSU. Swinson has started all 9 games for the Tigers this season. He has logged 42 total tackles, including 25 solo stops. Swinson leads the Tigers in tackles for loss with 10.5 and sacks with 8.

Ryan is a veteran defensive back who has played multiple spots in the Tiger secondary during his time at LSU.In 2024, Ryan has played in 9 games, making 7 starts. He has recorded 34 total tackles, including 19 solo stops, 2 TFLs and 1 sack. He also has 3 pass breakups and 2 forced fumbles on the season.

The LSU defense has already survived one Florida offensive possession without their usual starters on the field. The Gators punted back to the Tigers after a turnover on downs. The game is airing on ABC.
