He has extensive experience as a college coach, was part of a Super Bowl-winning staff with the Philadelphia Eagles, and spent three seasons as the wideouts coach for Notre Dame under Tyrone Willingham.
The Terre Haute native has spent the last two seasons on Brian Kelly’s staff at LSU as a senior analyst.
In South Bend, he’ll reunite with former LSU offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, who left Baton Rouge last month to join Freeman’s staff.

Miles got his first full-time job as the wide receivers coach at Northern Illinois in 1991. He coached wideouts for three seasons and then moved to the other side of the ball for a year to coach defensive backs. In 1995, he moved to Hawaii to coach wideouts and, a year later, made the same move to the defensive side to coach defensive backs.
He had brief stops with Fresno State, the Green Bay Packers, and then Stanford before joining the Notre Dame staff the first go-around. He coached running backs at Washington from 2005-07 before getting the head coaching job at his alma mater.
He spent five seasons as Indiana State’s head coach before accepting the head position at Georgia State, where he spent another four years. He was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year award and the Missouri Valley Coach of the Year at Indiana State.
At Georgia State, Miles was the Sun Belt Coach of the Year in 2015 after helping the program to a 6-7 record and a bowl appearance in its third year at the FBS level.
