Joseph Stone has had a topsy turvy recruitment with LSU, and now it’s taken another twist.
Stone committed to LSU on July 11, 2022, but about 8 months ago, he said that commitment was not set in stone. He is from Fairburn, Georgia (Langston Hughes).
Stone announced his decommitment on social media on Tuesday. Stone reportedly made 3 visits in June: LSU, Louisville and UCF. But he also noted several SEC offers, including Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.
“I would want to thank the entire staff for taking the time to get to know me as a player and as a person,” he wrote. “Being committed to Lsu has been nothing but the greatest. I am fortunate to be a part of something that will always be unique. Thank you to the Lsu fan base for your unwavering support. It has been incredibly difficult to decide, but I am confident that God is perfect and makes no mistakes. With that being said I will be decommitting from LSU and reopening my recruitment!”
At the time of his commitment, Stone was listed at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds and was rated a 4-star ATH, the No. 107 prospect overall in the class of 2024 on the 247Sports Composite. Stone was recruited by LSU wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton. He also referred to the Tigers as Wide Receiver U.
He’s now the No. 46 wide receiver in the Class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite.
