In just over two week’s time, Derek Stingley Jr. will make his final decision on which college he plans to attend.

The 6-foot, 193-pound Baton Rouge native is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 1 cornerback prospect and the No. 17 overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. His selection will come down to LSU, Florida and Texas. Stingley is considered an LSU lean and was at one point committed to the program when Les Miles was in charge of the Tigers.

Stingley announced on Monday that his final decision will come on Wednesday, June 20th. He also revealed that he plans to shut down his recruitment and sign early with the team he selects at that time. That’s a message his father echoed last month during an appearance on Baton Rouge-based ESPN radio show Off the Bench.

Here’s what Derek Stingley Sr. had to say regarding his son’s upcoming commitment during his appearance on the show.

“It will be some time during the summer… It will be final. It won’t be another school jumps in there and grabs his attention, we are not doing that as a family,” Stingley said. “These are his final three and there is no one else that will come in and pull him out of there.”
