Brian Kelly and LSU will be without wide receiver Deion Jones in 2022. The true freshman from Jackson, Miss., has reportedly entered the transfer portal, according to The Athletic.

Smith was a 4-star recruit in the class of 2021, ranked as the No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana by 247Sports. He was also rated as the No. 9 wide receiver in the class.

In 2021, he played in 6 games, making 11 catches for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns. Against Central Michigan, he had 5 catches for 135 yards, hauling in 2 scores. But he was unable to make further impact during the season due to injury. He missed nearly a month following an injury against Kentucky on Oct. 9 and didn’t play again until Nov. 6 against Alabama, where he failed to record any stats.
