LSU is entering the 2026-27 football season with as high of expectations as any team with Lane Kiffin being the new coach in Baton Rouge.
With Kiffin at LSU, the Tigers are going to have a ton of eyes on them every week next year. With the NCAA approving commercial jersey patches starting next year, now is the perfect time for LSU athletics to take advantage. On Monday, the school announced that Woodside Energy will be featured on LSU’s team uniforms in every sport starting next year.
Jersey patches has been extremely popular in European soccer, but it has also carried over to the NBA. LSU making this announcement with Woodside Energy is the first program to officially announce a partnership, but it figures to be just the start in college sports.

LSU athletic director and vice president Verge Ausberry released a statement.
“This partnership with Woodside Energy represents a monumental step forward for LSU Athletics and our student-athletes,” Ausberry said. “LSU continues to set the standard and remains at the forefront of this new era of collegiate athletics, and we are excited to align athletic excellence with community impact through this historic collaboration.”
With NIL being such a hotly debated topic and so important today in college sports, these partnerships provide the schools a great opportunity to increase their NIL funds to help build championship contenders.
When the Tigers take the field in the season-opener on Sept. 5 against Clemson, they will do so with the new patch on their jerseys.
