Cam Cameron looks to have survived the criticism in Death Valley to return for another season.
LSU athletic director Joe Alleva confirmed reports from The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger and NOLA.com’s Ron Higgins that the school was working on a new deal for Cameron. Coach Les Miles indicated that to the media after an introductory press conference for Dave Aranda as the new defensive coordinator.
Many blamed Cameron for what they viewed to be a one-dimensional and predictable LSU offense this season. While the unit ranked 4th in the SEC with 437.3 yards of total offense per game, the Tigers ranked 11th in passing offense with only 179.8 yards per game as RB Leonard Fournette shouldered most of the load.
Cameron was especially under fire for being too conservative on offense during the team’s three-game losing streak, the worst skid ever during Miles’ tenure in Baton Rouge.
Cameron just completed his third season as LSU’s offensive coordinator.
