LSU is gearing up for a tough SEC matchup against South Carolina in Week 3.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, the team will be without receiver Chris Hilton Jr. for the 3rd straight game. Hilton is still dealing with an ankle injury, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

The WR was expected to take on a large role in the Tigers’ offense after the team lost 2 WR to the 2024 NFL Draft.
In 2023, Hilton caught 13 passes for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. The speedster was a complimentary piece behind Brian Thomas Jr. and Malik Nabers, so without those two in town, Hilton could have a breakout season in 2024 if he can get healthy.
Without Hilton, Kyren Lacy has been the leading receiver for the Tigers. Lacy leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns.
The Tigers’ offense could certainly use a boost. The team currently has the No. 65 total offense in the country through 2 games. South Carolina boasts a tough defense with their unit ranking No. 28 in total defense.
LSU needs a win in Week 3 to feel good about their season. The Tigers suffered a tough loss in Week 1 to USC, so getting an early season conference win would do well to help any postseason hopes the team has.
South Carolina, meanwhile, is 2-0 with wins over Old Dominion and Kentucky. The Gamecocks destroyed the Wildcats in Week 2, earning an impressive conference win in the process.
The Tigers and Gamecocks will kick off from Columbia at noon ET.
