LSU’s near $100 million contract offer to Lane Kiffin revealed, per report

LSU is reportedly set to offer Lane Kiffin an enormous contract, one that would make him the highest-paid coach in college football.
According to CBS Sports’ Brandon Marcello, the contract is for seven years and worth up to $98 million, with incentives built in. That averages out to $14 million a year, slightly higher than the $13.282 million Kirby Smart’s $13.282 million. LSU officials would also deliver “a significant promise that would make LSU competitive in revenue sharing and NIL.”
While Kiffin’s base salary, per Marcello, would be just $3 million, how much he’d be getting paid annually would come from “outside sources and incentives.”
Those figures are higher than the $90 million over seven years that Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported on Friday night. Dellenger also reported that the deal would feature $25 million in roster cash.
Ole Miss is idle in Week 13, with a win in Week 14 at Mississippi State on Black Friday securing the Rebels’ first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. That should be the big story surrounding Oxford right now and the major talking point for Ole Miss fans. Instead, the headline is the “will he or won’t he” of whether Kiffin takes the job in Baton Rouge, dons the headset at Florida, or stays where he is amid the best stretch in Rebels football history.
That question will be answered on Saturday, a day after the Egg Bowl, according to Ole Miss AD Keith Carter.
