Georgia suffered yet another injury in the SEC Championship Game, this time on the opening kickoff of the second half.

LSU’s Tory Carter, a fullback caught Georgia’s Walter Grant head-on, and his neck snapped back as he hit the turf. Grant, an outside linebacker, was hit in the neck and chin area with his head turned. The play was reviewed for targeting, and the call was upheld, so Carter was ejected. The penalty put LSU back half the distance to the goal line, so the Tigers started their drive on their own 13-yard line.

The second-half incident means Carter will have to sit out the first half of LSU’s next game, presumably in the College Football Playoff.

This kind of hit may have been a long time coming as Carter tweeted Saturday morning, “Woke up pissed off.”

CBS Sports sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl reported a few minutes after the hit that Grant suffered a concussion and is out for the game.

LSU went down and settled for a field goal on that drive to make it a 20-3 lead with 8:20 left in the third quarter.
