Luke Doty provided updates on his foot injury and role within the South Carolina program Tuesday afternoon.
Doty underwent season-ending surgery after re-injuring his foot against Vanderbilt last season.
“I definitely think my foot is at 100%, my body feels 100%,” Doty said. “I cant give enough credit to the medical staff here.”
2021 was hard on Doty and the South Carolina quarterback room to begin with, seeing three separate quarterbacks start across the season. Spencer Rattler represents the new kid in town and is primed for a starting role after transferring over from Oklahoma.
Doty knows his role heading into the new season, however.
“As far as my role, my job is just to be the best player, teammate, quarterback, doesn’t matter who is out there, just be the best leader that I can and support my guys in any way,” Doty said.
Doty has been a solid signal caller for the Gamecocks in his time at the head of the offense, a weapon that Beamer and South Carolina will no doubt use at some point this season. Across his two-year college career, Doty has connected on 129 passes for 1,380 yards, 7 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
