Luther Burden was the top-rated offensive player in the 2022 recruiting class. The East St. Louis native chose to stay home and play for the Missouri Tigers.

And, on Thursday night against Louisiana Tech, his first collegiate touch didn’t disappoint.

As you can see below, Burden lined up in the Wildcat formation, took a direct snap and ran left for 17 yards and a first down:

That was a play that should have been bottled up behind the line of scrimmage, as it wasn’t well designed and a couple of Louisiana Tech defenders were in positions to make plays.

But, Burden’s incredible athleticism and speed allowed him to gain the edge without having any blockers and scamper for 17 yards. As the Tigers are off to a slow start offensively against the Bulldogs, this has been the best play of the night for Mizzou.

We’ll see if coach Eli Drinkwitz dials up Burden’s number on some more creative plays.
