Former Alabama QB Mac Jones reportedly saw a dead body from his team hotel room the morning before leading his 49ers to a win over the Los Angeles Rams.
The Athletic insider Dianna Russini reported the news Saturday morning, and mentioned the following: “That morning at the team hotel in Marina del Rey, Jones told teammates he was on his balcony when he looked out at the water and saw a floating dead body. Someone called the police. As the 49ers loaded buses for the stadium, players watched investigators and even a coroner’s van pull into the marina. On Friday afternoon, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the incident was still under investigation”
Obviously, it was a pretty insane day for the former Alabama quarterback. Jones posted perhaps the best game of his pro career on Thursday, leading the 49ers to a 26-23 win over Los Angeles behind 342 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. He completed 33 of his 49 attempts and set the Niners up for a field goal in overtime, which proved to be the game-winning kick.
Jones is taking over for Brock Purdy and has been making the most of his opportunity. San Francisco is 3-0 under Jones, who has now led wins over the Saints, Cardinals and Rams. So far this season he’s totaled 905 yards with 6 touchdowns and 1 interception.
According to Russini, the police are currently investigating the incident.
