When Mac Jones was at Alabama, his girlfriend helped him learn the Crimson Tide’s offensive playbook.

Now that the 23-year-old quarterback is in the NFL, it’s time to do it again.

During an appearance on “Merloni and Fauria” on WEEI 93.7 FM on Tuesday, Jones shared that his girlfriend is helping him learn another new playbook now that he’s with the New England Patriots.

“She actually does. She does a good job,” Jones said on the show. “… She helps me a lot.”

Not only that, but Jones and his girlfriend even do walkthroughs of plays in their backyard.

“I’ve always been a very visual learner,” Jones added. “That helps to see it. Whether it’s drawing it or walking through it or doing it.”

It worked out well for Jones when he was at Alabama, considering he was named a Heisman Trophy finalist as a redshirt junior in 2020. He passed for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns and 4 interceptions while leading the Crimson Tide to a 13-0 record and the national championship.

Jones could be poised to have immediate success in the NFL. He won a quarterback competition with Cam Newton during training camp, and he takes over a Patriots offense that is much improved from last season.

Jones is set to make his NFL debut on Sunday, when the Patriots host the Miami Dolphins at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
