Major Burns started his career at Georgia in 2020, but has been an integral part of the LSU football team over the last 4 years. However, in today’s college football, many players are deciding not to play in their team’s bowl game. That is the case with Burns, as the senior safety reportedly will not be playing in the Texas Bowl matchup against Baylor on New Year’s Eve on ESPN.
Burns has started 33 games during his time at LSU, including 10 this season. His 47 tackles are 5th on the team this year, and he had 90 tackles in the 2023 season. With Burns out, this will allow other players the opportunity to show the coaches what they can do headed into the 2025 season.

With Sage Ryan announcing that he was leaving LSU and going to Ole Miss earlier in the transfer portal phase, the Tigers will be playing a lot of guys on Tuesday without a ton of game experience. Redshirt freshman Javien Toviano is one of those guys who figures to earn more playing time, as he finished with 6 tackles on the season. Other guys such as freshman DaShawn Spears and junior Jardin Gilbert will also see the field against Baylor.
