Malik Nabers sets single-season New York Giants record in Week 18 vs. Eagles
Malik Nabers made history on Sunday in the New York Giants’ season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.
With his fourth catch of the game, Nabers broke Steve Smith’s 2009 record for the most receptions in a single season in franchise history. His fourth reception was the 108th of his season. Nabers, the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had already broken the Giants’ record for receptions by a rookie, which Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley had previously shared.
Then in the fourth quarter, Nabers caught a 45-yard touchdown pass to give him his seventh score of the year. That fifth reception brought his season total to 109, which broke a tie with Brock Bowers for the most by a rookie in NFL history.
Bowers (108 receptions) can take the record back later on Sunday when the Las Vegas Raiders face the Los Angeles Chargers.
Considering the circumstances, Nabers is having one of the greatest seasons by a receiver in recent NFL history. For a Giants team that entered Week 18 with a 3-13 record, Nabers has been the only bright spot. He has caught passes from 4 different quarterbacks and, despite playing in 2 fewer games than the Giants’ next leading receiver, has nearly double the receiving yardage.
Nabers was an absolute star at LSU and has been just as remarkable since entering the League.
