Lane Kiffin’s offense vs. Hugh Freeze’s offense was one of the biggest storylines heading into Saturday’s Ole Miss-Liberty game. D.J. Durkin’s defense had something to say about that. The Rebel defense tied its previous season-high of 5 sacks early in the second quarter. Close to the half, the Rebels got sack No. 6 for a new season-high. Sack No. 7 wasn’t far behind.

Even SEC Network analyst Chris Doering chimed in from the studio about getting “cheated” out of what was supposed to be a showcase of two high-powered offenses, noting the Ole Miss defense had stolen the show.

It wasn’t just about the sacks. The Rebel unit forced 2 interceptions.

Fans on Twitter also reacted to the strong showing from Durkin’s unit in the first half.
