After two ACL tears, fifth-year senior Josh Holsey is ending his Auburn career on a high note. This season, the cornerback has recorded 21 tackles and 13 passes defended (10 pass breakups plus 3 interceptions), including game-saving picks in back-to-back weeks. Coach Gus Malzahn said that Holsey belongs in the conversations with the SEC’s best.

“I think the way he’s played this year really speaks for itself,” Malzahn told AL.com’s James Crepea. “He’s an outstanding player and he definitely deserves to be in the conversation. … Just stability, leadership, he’s a quarterback on the back end.

“He has the ability to make a play when a team needs it; you’ve seen that two weeks in a row. In the fourth quarter of games that were yet to be decided he made the play of the game. That says a lot about him and he’s playing at a very high level right now.”

Holsey’s next victim looks to be Georgia QB Jacob Eason. The Tigers travel to Athens to take on the Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
