After Miami’s blowout loss to Alabama in Atlanta to start the season, Manny Diaz is facing heat once more as the Hurricanes trail Virginia, 16-7, at Hard Rock Stadium.

The stat that jumps off the page is the offensive output: the Cavaliers have outgained the Hurricanes 245-94 thus far. Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong is 20-of-30 for 168 yards, while Billy Kemp IV has made 8 catches for 75 yards. Meanwhile, Tyler Van Dyke, playing in place of the injured D’Eriq King, has managed just 63 yards on 4-of-11 passing and, like Armstrong, has been sacked twice.

The Canes punted on their first 2 possessions. On the 3rd, they saw Cam’Ron Harris tackled in the end zone for a safety. They eventually found the end zone via Harris with 2-and-a-half minutes remaining, but not before punting on their 2 prior possessions.

Diaz has Miami off to a 2-2 start following wins over Appalachian State and FCS Central Connecticut, but there’s the 2 blowout losses to Alabama and Michigan State on his ledger as well. Here’s reaction from social media following the Canes’ first half:
