Sometimes perception is reality.

If it seems like a large portion of the top-tier recruiting battles happen in the South, that’s probably because they do.

That’s one of the takeaways from this map, which has charted each of the four and five star recruits that signed during the 2014 and 2015 recruiting cycles:

The SEC states are littered with top tier talent, leaving plenty of chances for multiple schools to get a piece of the pie.

Next time you’re trying to figure out why some SEC teams won’t stick closer to their own state for recruiting, it is worth noting how the league’s northern states (Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee) are at a deficit when it comes to four and five-star players.

It also explains why teams from out west and up north are constantly looking for ways to break into the South for recruiting purposes.
