Marcus Banks is staying in the SEC. The Alabama transfer defensive back announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Monday night.

Banks announced Nov. 9 that he entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Banks was rated the No. 21 recruit out of Texas and No. 13 cornerback in the 2019 class when he signed with Alabama over 24 other scholarship offers.

As a freshman, Banks played in 7 of Alabama’s 2019 games, recording no stats. In 2020, he played in 9 games, logging 2 tackles. This season, Banks played in the season-opener against Miami before making his first career start against Mercer, a game in which he snagged an interception and made 4 tackles. Banks also saw playing time against Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Tennessee this season.
