Marcus Freeman offered his reaction to Tyler Buchner transferring to Alabama while he was on the NFL Network leading into the NFL Draft.
“We love Tyler,” Freeman told Andrew Siciliano on NFL Network just minutes after Buchner made the announcement on social media. “We wish him the best of luck. When he made his decision to go into the portal, I told him, ‘You know what? I’m always a fan of yours, and I look forward to seeing the success he has at his next program.”
For Buchner, it’s a reunion with former offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, who left Notre Dame for the OC job at Alabama. Buchner last season missed 10 of 13 games, and he finished the season going 46-for-83 with 652 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. He ran for 123 yards and 4 touchdowns in his 3 games.
In 2021, Buchner appeared in 10 games including 8 of the last 9, and finished the season with 6 TDs, 3 passing and 3 rushing, with 634 total yards, 336 rushing and 298 passing.
