Marcus Lattimore leaving South Carolina, Will Muschamp plans to hire Connor Shaw
It’s a bittersweet day in Columbia as South Carolina legend Marcus Lattimore is leaving the Gamecock program. While that isn’t the news any Gamecock fan wants to hear, Lattimore’s role on Will Muschamp’s staff will be filled by former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw.
This news was first reported by Mike Uva of WACH.com. It should be noted that Lattimore’s departure was his decision, he was not dismissed by South Carolina.
Lattimore had been serving as South Carolina’s Director of Player Development for two seasons. Now that role will be filled by the winningest signal-caller in Gamecock program history.
If you were unaware, this won’t be Shaw’s first college coaching opportunity as he briefly served as Furman’s tight ends coach during the 2018 offseason. After graduating from South Carolina, Shaw briefly played in the NFL for the Browns and Bears.
