Marcus Maye received a suspension from the NFL on Tuesday, the league announced in a statement.
Maye was suspended without pay for the next 3 games for violating the NFL policy on substance abuse. Maye is eligible to return to the Saints’ active roster on Monday, Oct. 9, following the team’s Week 5 game at New England.
About a month ago, Maye was given 6 months probation, including 6 months with a suspended driver’s license, following a 2021 DUI case.
Maye is in his 7th season in the NFL, and spent the first 5 seasons with the New York Jets. He was signed by the Saints to a 3-year deal in March. He started 10 games for the Saints last season.
