Heading into the Alabama game, one of the biggest storylines was how it would impact interim coach Ed Orgeron’s chance of landing the full-time job. There were conflicting reports as to whether it was a must-win game for him to be considered or whether he could lose to the Crimson Tide as long as he swept the final three opponents.
Despite a 10-0 loss for LSU, ex-Tiger Marcus Spears told Paul Finebaum that he thinks Orgeron boosted his chances of getting the full-time gig.

The low-scoring affair –scoreless through the first three quarters – reminded many fans and analysts of the 2011 contest in Tuscaloosa often referred to as The Game of the Century. The lack of offense, however, is something the Tigers will have to address in either the next head coach or the play-caller on Orgeron’s staff.
