Mark Emmert, the outgoing NCAA President, spoke with media Wednesday afternoon and had some telling comments.

He made it clear that he hopes he does not see a world where college athletes are essentially made “employees” to their schools. In other words, he does not want to see the college game turn into a semi-pro league.

Here’s his full quote:

It’s worth noting that Mark Emmert made nearly $3 million in the 2021 fiscal year from the NCAA.

Ultimately, we live in a world of change. NIL, like it or not, has changed the landscape of college athletics. It may be unlikely that Emmert’s wish comes true. After all, he had a chance to get out in front of things on the NIL front when it first began.

What do you think of Emmert’s comments?
